Silver leaf (Jumper)

Silver leaf is a raglan sleeve jumper that is knitted holding two yarns together (a fingering and a mohair) to make it warm for the cooler months. Its round neckline finished with an I-cord gives it a very feminine look. The beauty of this sweater lies in its fairly wide lace sleeves, which then tighten at the wrist for a balloon effect.

I can also be knitted with a single thread of DK yarn to make it lighter for the mid-season.

The construction is top-down : the back, the sleeves and the start of the front are first knitted back and forth to create a round neckline on the front. The front is joined in the round to form the top of the bust. The sleeves are put on hold in order to knit the body; the stitches of the sleeves are then picked-up to be knitted one by one. The neckline is picked up at the end to knit an I-cord border.

Size (finished measurements): 80, 85, 90 (95, 100, 105, 110) [115, 120, 130] 140, 150, 160 cm of bust circumference

Recommended ease: between 5 and 10 cm of positive ease

Gauge: 19 sts x 30 rows = 10 cm in stockinette in the round with 4.5mm/US 7 needles (or another size depending on your gauge)

Yarns: about 830, 870, 930 (990, 1050, 1120, 1150) [1260, 1320, 1470] 1630, 1770, 1890 meters of fingering weight yarn and about the same amount of lace mohair.

So 5, 5, 5 (5, 6, 6, 6) [7, 7, 8] 9, 9, 10 balls of Merino – Along avec Anna and 4, 5, 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) [6, 7, 7] 8, 9, 9 balls of Silk Mohair – Along avec Anna.

Sample version: knit in size 90 with 5cm of positive ease.

Recommended needles (or another size to get the gauge): 4.5mm/US 7 for the body and the sleeves, 3.75mm/US 5 for ribbing, 2.75mm for the I-cord
