If you follow us on social media (or have already visited us in person), then you may already know the exciting news: we’ve moved! While the first ever Along avec Anna brick-and-mortar shop will always have a special place in our hearts, our business is expanding and our square metrage must grow to match! We may not have moved far (just down the street, in fact), but this development ushers in a whole new era of possibilities for in-person events, collaborative working and the clicking of needles in good company.
Since the release of our ethical yarn back in November 2021, we have been continually expanding our offering with more colours and bases. Last year, we released our third base, our Double Merino (DK), to join our first two bases: Merino (fingering) and Silk Mohair (lace weight). From starting out with six colours, we have now reached a grand total of fifteen, and we’re showing no signs of slowing down! Our new shop gives us all the space we need to display our unique palette and every base and colour is available for your yarn squishing pleasure. We’re always being told our yarn is even softer to the touch than it looks, and if you need convincing, come see for yourself!
We want to be your one stop shop for all knitting-related needs, so we keep a wide range of practical as well as pretty accessories. We have fixed circular knitting needles, interchangeable needle kits, fun and whimsical Along avec Anna stitch markers and progress keepers, non-toxic knitwear shampoo, knit blockers, and much more! Whether you count cute and unique enamel pins designed by our talented illustrator Charline as a knitting-need or not is entirely your business, and either way we have you covered!
Perhaps the biggest advantage of our new space is having room to host events to our heart’s content! What workshops or classes would you like to see in the shop? We hope to see you at our regular knit nights, which are informal get-togethers for you to bring your project, have some tea and cake and friendly knit-chat. We’re also running knitting and crochet classes, so make sure to grab your spot! Keep an eye on our Instagram or on the workshop page of our website for updates and to sign up.
And if you can’t make it to our designated knit nights, you’re always welcome to sit and knit any time! Bring your project, tuck into our biscuit supply and make yourself at home!
Meet Megan!
If you stop by the shop, you’ll have the pleasure of meeting our new retail and admin associate, Megan! Megan is an avid knitter and can answer any crafting questions you might have. She’ll also be in charge of packing online orders and inventory. Additionally, she’s our resident crocheter and is teaching our crochet classes, so you’re a knitter ready to branch out, make sure to sign up to one of her beginner classes and get working on those granny square skills.
Some fun facts about Megan:
- She studied agriculture in Aberystwyth before getting a job at Hobbycraft
- She discovered Along avec Anna by walking past the old shop on her way home from work.
- The Trescao Jumper was the first full garment she ever knitted!
- Her favourite Along avec Anna colourway is Tresor
- She loves reading and swimming too, but crafting is by far her biggest passion (naturally).
