Along avec Anna has come a long way since it started life as a sewing blog back in 2013. We’re now a small team and it seemed high time we introduce you to the team members! For our second interview, we hope you’ll enjoy getting to know a bit more about Charline (charline_mzd on Instagram), our illustrator!
We’d love to hear about what you do at Along avec Anna !
My role at Along avec Anna is to turn all Anna’s ideas into illustrations. I do all the technical drawings for the patterns, the designs for the pins and stitch markers – everything to do with illustration!
What is the most challenging and the most rewarding aspect for you?
I’m not sure what the most difficult part is… perhaps always making sure everything is done to the highest standard! For the most enriching part, I’d say it’s being a part of the creative process at Along avec Anna. It’s great to be playing a role behind the scenes!
How and when did you first learn to knit?
I learnt to knit with my mum about 8 years ago. I had just moved with my partner and son and we were far away from family and I had to find ways to fill the long days on my own while my partner was out working. Knitting has become a key hobby for me.
What is it that you love about knitting?
Being able to create something with my hands and say: “I made that!” And also first and foremost how portable it is and the fact I can take a project everywhere with me, and pick it up and put it down as I like!
If you were an Along avec Anna pattern, which one would you be?
That’s tricky… I would say maybe the Trescao because it’s such a staple! It’s perfect over a skirt or jeans, full length or cropped, with long or short sleeves. It’s the perfect everyday piece. I like its simple, timeless quality which fits perfectly for any occasion.
And what colourway and fibre would you be, out of our new Along avec Anna yarns?
For the fibre, definitely merino. It works in basically any pattern. It’s easy to look after. And for the colour, that’s tricky… I like every colour! But I would say maybe Colombe (cream) or Dune (beige) for that neutral quality, which goes with everything.
In short, I’m a simple person with simple tastes!
And what about your life outside of Along avec Anna?
Outside of Along avec Anna, I am first and foremost a full-time mum to 3 boys: a nine year old, a 5 year old and a soon-to-be one year old. They structure my days and I arrange my work around them. I’m passionate about all sorts of DIY, knitting and also crochet, macramé, making cosmetics, cooking… Basically, I like to keep my hands constantly busy!
