New pattern release : Marieke
Hello everyone! I’m happy to come to you with a new knitting article to tell you about my latest knitting pattern : the Marieke sweater !! I am delighted and excited to introduce it to you because it’s a pattern that I had imagined for a quite a while but that took me a lot of time to make look like exactly like I had in mind. Marieke is a children pattern (at least for the moment … stay tuned for an adult version!), which is available from 6 months to 10 years. It is a mid-season jersey sweater with a colourwork yoke. The colourwork starts at the shoulders, and goes up to the neck. The bottom of the sleeves also has part of the pattern. It is knitted from bottom to top, with the sleeves apart. The different parts are then joined together and the round neck is formed by decreases spread over several rows. This pattern can be knitted with a main colour and one, two or even three contrasting colours.
For my version, I chose a combo that I absolutely love : white, pink, blue, and mustard. But you can let your desires speak by choosing the colours that will inspire you!
To knit this pattern, you will need a sport weight yarn, or thick fingering, for a gauge of 24 stitches x 32 rows = 10cm. I’ve knitted it in Nord from Drops and I am delighted with the result. Ulysse yarn by De Rerum Natura will easily give you the gauge too. I advise you to go check the project page on Ravelry, and you will be able to see the yarn used by the testers.
Marieke is a pattern that is very accessible to colourwork beginners, as you don’t need to carry the yarn. Indeed, there is never more than 4 stitches of the same colour, so the tension is easier to manage. As usual, explanations are available in French and English. And what is even better? Depending on the colours you choose, it is suitable for both girls and boys! The proof in image with some versions of the testers!
This pattern is available on Ravelry (the blog shop has been closed due to technical problems), and you can take advantage of 15% off with the code MARIEKE15 until Sunday, February 11, 23:30 (GMT).
Happy knitting ! And thank you for your support !
