DIY Moneta with Plantain Neckline
When you compare both front patterns, with the armholes in line, you can see that plantain has more clivage than Moneta, and the shoulder is higher. we are going to copy Plantain’s clivage and keep moneta’s shoulder if we want the sleeves to match.
The first step is to copy the front piece of Plantain on your pattern paper.
Second step : Take the front pattern of Moneta and mark the top of the shoulder. Don’t forget to line the armholes! On my picture, the bottom line of the shoulder is from Moneta and the top line is Plantain.
Third step : if you measure the difference between both lines, you can see that (for my size anyway) that there are 3 cm difference. This measure is very important as we will have to reduce the neckline band of Plantain so it fits the new shoulder measure.
As there are two shoulders with 3 cm less on each side, it means that you have to take off 6 cm from the neckline band of Plantain.
Then, you have to do the same for the back. Moneta’s pattern is slightly larger than plantain on the middle back line. Keep Moneta’s measure for the shoulder. It is very important as well to keep the fit of Moneta on the waist! So basically, all you need from Plantain is the neckline and nothing else!
And then, you have two pieces ready to be cut in your fabric! Don’t forget to reduce Plantain neckline band or you will end up with one two large as we reduced the front shoulder!
Take the other pieces of Moneta and sew it all! I hope this DIY will help you! Let me know if you need clearer informations!
