Book review : Atelier charlotte auzou #2
Hello Everyone! I’m really happy to write to you today to present a book that I received in the Spring. I didn’t have time to write this article during the summer with the move, but it’s here now! I really like to write book reviews, so I hope you’ll be happy with this one.
I had the chance to discover Atelier Charlotte Auzou first book last year, and I was lucky enough to receive a copy of her second book called Apprendre à coudre ses robes et ses petits hauts : Avec patrons. This book is, like the first one, only in french but really accessible. It had been written for sewing beginners, but if you are intermediate level, you could work out how to sew the pattern without reading the written instructions I’m sure (each pattern is explained by instructions and photographs).
This books format looks very similar to the first one: you can ready my review here. Patterns are available on two large size papers, where each pattern is traced in a different colour.
Before the pattern, you have a lot of explanations for beginners: how to choose a sewing machine, how to use it, the material you need when you start sewing… as well as lessons: how to sew a bias, how to hem a top or a dress etc.). Each technique is very well explained thanks to written instructions and photographs.
The big difference between this book and her first one are … the patterns! This time, you don’t have any accessories, but only clothes. Patterns are quite simple, so really accessible for beginners but with a little detail each time : a scalloped hem, buttons, peplum … I just LOVE the pattern Los Angeles and I’ve been meaning to make it for weeks! I can’t wait to get my sewing machine back and start on this one! The good thing about the patterns is that each time, you have the chance to make a top or a dress from each model : 18 patterns in total! Enough to fill up your wardrobe right! I decided not to show you all the patterns this time so you can have some surprise when you open the book (best part of it), but here are a few so you can get an idea of the style.
Have a nice end of the week!
