Autumn Wardrobe Planning
Autumn is definitely my favorite season ever. Some people find me very strange because of that (right Lilou), but I’m always looking forward to it. Mushrooms, chestnuts, walks in the forest, and since I live in Québec … colors, apple picking, and pumpkin soups! You can’t do anything about it, I just love Autumn. It is a season where you can really find your style, and think again your wardrobe.
When I choose my pattern and fabric it has to be love at first sight. But Autumn is the only real season when I take time to plan my futur sewing projects and my essential. I spent time looking into fall collection of my favorite brands, what I like, the colours I need, and try to get ready an autumn wardrobe planning. I tell you all about my fall essentials as well!
So we start with….. plaid fabric! But not the type of plaid you would find in your grandma’s old fabric, no no! It seems like I’ve always loved plaid but never had the courage to sew any project with it. Until this year! I found two amazing plaid fabric from Robert Kaufman + 2 pictures on Pinterest to inspire me and that was it! The left picture? I can see an Emery, project I will start to sew in a few days. On the right one? An Opale dress, that I’m wearing today : post will come soon.
2) Circle skirt
I find like Autumn is the season to wear a circle red skirt. It is the type of skirt I don’t really wear in summer, but I have no problem during fall with tights. I already blogged about it here, but I present it to you again, with a different outfit. What I love about them is that it is very easy to wear every day with different top and shoes. I really like it with a breton top, a blue cardigan, blue tights and my favorite ballerinas. Usually, I complete my outfit with nail polish : red or purple depending on the day.
3) Mustard, or almost
I didn’t think I would actually like this colour on me. But in the end I really love it. But I find it is not easy to have the real mustard colour, it can easily be a weird yellow that I’m not a fan of. I found this bag on Ruche eshop during Labor day week-end and … how should I say : a bow bag in a mustard colour?! Yay!
4) Viscose dress
A little dress to wear very easily with tights and a cardigan, or high socks. Perfect timing, I just bought 2 meters of this very nice rabbit viscose fabric from Annaka Bazaar. I thought about making a Sylphide dress, but now I see this picture I’ll maybe change my mind and look for an other pattern. Now I just need to find a mustard cardigan like this one or a brown one.
5) The retro dress
I showed you this dress with blue tights but as I said in my post I’m sure it will be perfect with the mustard one i bought recently! I think I’m gonna wear this dress very often during fall. I will even make others versions probably.
Shorts… Sometimes I allow myself to wear them during summer, but I actually like them more in Autumn! My dream pair of shorts? A high waist version, blue with anchor buttons. A bit like Jess in New Girl. And I actually found a pattern which could work! So all I need now is to buy this thin gabardine from Little Fabrics and make it!
7) The buttoned skirt
Because it is important to have different type of skirt in your wardrobe… A gabardine fabric from Cousette shop (France), wood buttons and why not a Kelly skirt from Megan Nielsen!
8) A blouse
I’m writting this post, and in same time the stunning Pauline Alice is showing us a sewing project that she has made last year! What a blouse, I’m in love! The only problem is that I’m not wearing jeans often, but I mean if I can have a blouse like that I will definitely make the effort! Please Pauline Alice, release a pattern of it, I’ll be the first buyer!
9 ) Shoes
Ahhh Autumn. Good bye flip-flops and hello ballerinas and tights! I actually have a few pair of Autumn shoes but my two essentials are those one : a pair of nice ballerinas, bought in downtown Montréal, and my Tom’s. I still miss two pairs! Red ballerinas from Repetto, and … rain boots!
10) Essentials accessorizes
Yes ok, Autumn is not just mushrooms, apples and amazing colors. It is as well rain and the end of the bikini season. By this time of year, I’m not really into tones of fruits and smoothie at 4pm like I could be during summer. So I always have a … fruity bar! Oh and obvioulsy, it is hard to have a peaceful Autumn if you don’t have an umbrella… And finally, a totebag! Because you can’t put all that in your handbag!
And you, what is your planning for this season?
By the way, one of my project decided to play for too long and is a bit late to come! It is my version of the blouse “La joueuse” from MLM Patrons. But don’t worry, it will have the honour to be my next post! Have a nice week!
