Plantain rosé

Hello everyone! I’m finally sitting down to write to you tonight! It was about time! I’m really sorry I took such a long time to show you some of my new projects, but the weather turned so nice lately in Montreal that we are making the most of being outside! Also as I will be spending most of the summer in France where apparently it’s currently raining a lot… better enjoy it here whilst I can!
I’m writing to you today to show you a project that I’ve made last month, in a very nice fabric from the french designer France Duval Stalla, purchased at l’Atelier de Dina. It’s a knit fabric called ‘Jersey Ajouré’ in french, I’m not sure how to translate it in English. I’ve never really sewed any fabric from this designer before so it’s was the perfect occasion to test it, however, it took me quite a while to find the perfect project to use it. In effect, I don’t have a lot of knit patterns at home, and I didn’t want to go for another Moneta dress again (and I’m not sure the fabric would work anyway with it). I started by sewing some leggings for Alice which turned out pretty nice (more on that later), but I wasn’t sure what to sew for myself as this fabric has not been shown much on blogs.

IMG_0216IMG_0202IMG_0221After some reflection, I actually decided to go for the Plantain tee-shirt from Deer & Doe (free pattern) that I’d never used before (what a shame right?). As I didn’t want to have a random tee-shirt for this fabric, I decided to add a gathered skirt to it, similar to that in the Dress Tutorial available on their website. I didn’t use an elastic but gathered my fabric with two threads and a stretch needle on my sewing machine as the knit is not very elastic. For the rest, I used mainly my serger and did the finishes with a double needle.

This knit is super soft! If I had had a pyjama pattern for summer, I would have sewn a version in this fabric for sure! It’s so comfy! I chose my favourite summer colour: pink. I find it a peaceful colour.

I will also take the opportunity to show you my flower crown that I’ve made during a workshop in May at the shop L’Atelier du coin de la rue, in Montreal. Ismérie organised this workshop for the first time and I was really happy to be apart of it. I’ll probably try to make another crown later on at home! It’s not something that is easy to wear every day of course, but I really like it for special occasions in summer!

Have a nice sunday night y’all!

J aime beaucoup ton petit haut.
